Your Best Possible Self

We all wish to become better—to live lives that feel happy and meaningful. But in this pursuit, we can sometimes lose our way by looking outward—seeking validation or trying to meet others’ expectations.
Becoming our best selves begins with turning inward and listening to the voice within.

What does the best possible version of your life look like?

When we pause to reflect on this question, we create space to reset, refocus, and recharge—aligning ourselves with what truly matters.

This practice—Your Best Possible Self—is a simple yet powerful way to deepen self-understanding and nurture a hopeful, grounded vision for the future.

………………………………………………………..

Grounding

Let’s begin with a simple grounding exercise.

Sit as still as you can. With your eyes open, fix your gaze on a single point straight ahead of you. Try not to move your eyes from this point.
Now, without shifting your focus, begin to notice everything you can see in your peripheral vision:

  • How far can you see to the right?
  • To the left?
  • Above and below you?

We focus our attention gently on one point—while remaining open and spacious to whatever else arises in our awareness, without judgment.

Take a deep breath in… and as you exhale, allow yourself to settle into a comfortable, relaxed state.

Visualization and Reflection

Now, begin to imagine your life in the future.
You can choose any point in time—six months, a year, or even five years from now.

Ask yourself:
What does the best possible version of your life look like?

Think about the things that truly matter to you.
Consider different areas of your life:

  • Your career or education
  • Your relationships
  • Your hobbies and passions
  • Your physical and mental health

What would be happening in these areas in your best possible future?

You might choose to write about it, draw it, or doodle your thoughts. You can download and print the worksheet below—or create your own version.

As you reflect, a few reminders:

  • It’s normal to become aware of how your current life may not align with your imagined future. You might also recall past challenges or barriers.
For this exercise, gently set those aside. Focus solely on a hopeful future—where your circumstances have shifted just enough for your best possible life to unfold.
  • Be as specific as you can. If you envision a new job, imagine the details: What kind of work are you doing? Where? With whom?
  • Let your imagination flow. Don’t worry about grammar or spelling. Just explore freely.

Keep Coming Back

This practice of visualizing your best possible self is more than a creative exercise. It’s a mindfulness tool—one that nurtures motivation, emotional resilience, and well-being.

In moments of self-doubt or uncertainty, returning to this vision can remind you of your inner strength and the wisdom you already carry.

The journey to your best self starts with intention. And belief.
